Faces of Fleet Feet: Angela Mastrorocco

As a locally owned and operated store, we find pride in connecting with our customers—from the walkers and workout fanatics to the runners and triathletes. To help you get to know us better, we're continuing with our "Faces of Fleet Feet" series featuring the wonderful staff that make our in-store atmosphere so special. These features serve to bridge the gap and make those faces you see in the store every day that much more familiar.

Today, we're excited to feature Tacoma Team Lead, Angela Mastrorocco.

How did you get started in run specialty (or at Fleet Feet)?
I had worked in the Mortgage Industry for almost 10 years prior to working here. Things had taken a downward trend and I found myself without a job. Being passionate about running, a friend noticed there was an opening for a run specialty store in Proctor. Being the person who doesn’t like to sit around and do nothing, I applied. Here we are 6 years later and I love it.

What do you do outside of Fleet Feet?
When I'm not working, you can find me traveling with my husband, taking in a stage show, being a foodie or shopping.

What stands out to you about working at Fleet Feet?
The fact that we get to help customers find solutions to make their walk and/or run a pain-free experience is amazing! We are truly blessed in Tacoma to be in such a great community full of wonderful people.

What's your go-to shoe and why?
My go-to shoe is a Mizuno Rider. It’s taken me on many memorable runs and with ease.

Do you have any exciting race stories or big running accomplishments?
The race that stands out the most to me was the You Go Girl 10K I did in September of 2010. I had been post-surgery for 9 months. I signed up for this race before surgery so I’d have a goal in mind for recovery. The day was approaching me, I still wasn’t sure even when I picked up my packet if I was going to run. I woke up at 6 a.m. and found my way to the start line. It was rainy, typical Washington weather. Right before the horn sounded to start the race, a HUGE clap of thunder sounded. I took it as a sign and ran and ran and ran! Best race of my life and not because I had a great time or I felt amazing, it was the fact that I accomplished my goal.
